Coronary heart disease (commonly called coronary heart disease) is the most common type of heart disease.

The coronary arteries are the blood vessels located on the surface of the heart, which supply blood to the heart muscle.

Coronary heart disease is mainly caused by the gradual accumulation of fat in the coronary arteries that supply blood to the heart, forming "plaques" that narrow or completely block the vessels. This condition is called atherosclerosis. When the vascular obstruction is severe, the blood flow reduces, which leads to myocardial ischemia and even necrosis.

Plaques can suddenly "rupture" and form "thrombus". If the thrombus flow in the blood stream, causing acute occlusion of coronary artery, which is known as acute myocardial infarction (heart attack).
